Warp
In maritime context, warp refers to the act of moving a vessel by hauling on a line attached to a fixed object on shore or to another vessel. Warping is commonly used in situations where a vessel needs to be moved in a confined space, such as a narrow channel or a crowded harbor. It can also be used to assist a vessel in docking or undocking. The line used for warping is called a warp or a hawser. Warping can be a slow and labor-intensive process, but it is often necessary in situations where the vessel's engines are not powerful enough to maneuver it in tight spaces.
