WASP

WASP stands for 'Women Airforce Service Pilots'. During World War II, the United States faced a shortage of pilots due to the war effort. To address this shortage, the Women Airforce Service Pilots program was established in 1942. Over 1,000 women were trained to fly military aircraft, ferry planes, and perform other non-combat flight duties. These women played a crucial role in the war effort, freeing up male pilots for combat duty. Despite their contributions, the WASP program was disbanded in 1944 and it wasn't until 1977 that they were recognized as veterans. Today, the WASP are remembered as pioneers in aviation and women's rights.
