Chimney

In maritime context, a chimney refers to a vertical pipe or structure that is used to expel exhaust gases from the engine room of a ship. The chimney is an important component of the ship's ventilation system, as it helps to remove harmful gases and fumes from the engine room and prevent them from accumulating in other parts of the ship. The height and diameter of the chimney are designed to ensure that the exhaust gases are expelled at a safe distance from the ship and do not pose a risk to the crew or the environment. The chimney may also be fitted with a spark arrester to prevent sparks from the engine igniting any flammable materials on the ship.
