Exhaust Gases

Exhaust gases refer to the waste gases that are emitted from the engine of a ship during its operation. These gases are a byproduct of the combustion process that takes place in the engine and typically contain a mixture of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor, as well as pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. The release of these gases into the atmosphere can have negative impacts on both human health and the environment, including contributing to air pollution, acid rain, and climate change. As a result, there are regulations in place to limit the amount of exhaust gases that can be emitted by ships, including the use of emissions control technologies and the requirement to use low-sulfur fuels.
