COGSA

COGSA stands for Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, which is a United States federal law that governs the rights, obligations, and liabilities of carriers and shippers involved in international maritime commerce. The act provides a framework for the transportation of goods by sea, including the responsibilities of the carrier, the shipper, and the consignee. It covers issues such as the seaworthiness of the vessel, the proper stowage and care of the cargo, and the liability of the carrier for loss or damage to the cargo. COGSA also sets limits on the amount of damages that can be recovered in the event of loss or damage to the cargo.
