COMSAR
COMSAR stands for Communications and Search and Rescue. It is a sub-committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) that deals with maritime communication and search and rescue matters. The committee is responsible for developing and updating the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS), which is an internationally recognized set of procedures, equipment, and communication protocols that enable effective communication and coordination during distress situations at sea. COMSAR also works to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of search and rescue operations, and to promote the use of new technologies and techniques in this field.
