Cut-water

A cut-water is a wedge-shaped projection located at the bow of a ship, which is designed to reduce the resistance of the vessel as it moves through the water. The cut-water helps to deflect the water away from the hull, reducing drag and increasing speed. It also helps to protect the ship from damage in the event of a collision with another vessel or object. Cut-waters can vary in size and shape depending on the type of ship and its intended use. They are commonly found on larger vessels such as cargo ships, tankers, and cruise ships.
