Distress Beacons

Distress beacons are devices that are used to alert search and rescue authorities in the event of an emergency at sea. These beacons emit a signal that can be detected by satellites and other search and rescue equipment, allowing rescuers to quickly locate the distressed vessel or person. There are different types of distress beacons, including Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs), Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs), and Search and Rescue Transponders (SARTs). These devices are an essential part of maritime safety equipment and are required on most commercial vessels and recommended for all recreational vessels.
