Distress Signals

Distress signals are a set of visual or audio signals used by ships and other maritime vessels to indicate that they are in distress and require immediate assistance. These signals are recognized internationally and are used to communicate the nature of the emergency, the location of the vessel in distress, and the type of assistance required. The most common distress signals include flares, smoke signals, and radio transmissions. It is important for all mariners to be familiar with distress signals and to respond promptly and appropriately when they are observed.
