Electronic Navigational Chart

An Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) is a digital chart used in navigation that complies with International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards. ENC contains all the information necessary for safe navigation, including water depths, coastline, navigational hazards, and aids to navigation. It is updated regularly to ensure accuracy and reliability. ENC is used in Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and other electronic navigation systems. It provides a more efficient and accurate means of navigation than traditional paper charts. ENC is an essential tool for modern navigation and is mandatory for certain vessels under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).
