Faking

Faking is the act of simulating a condition or situation in order to deceive others. In maritime context, faking can refer to the act of creating a false distress signal or a fake navigational signal. This can be done for various reasons, such as to attract attention, to cause confusion, or to hide one's true intentions. Faking a distress signal is a serious offense and can result in criminal charges. It is important for maritime authorities to be able to distinguish between genuine distress signals and fake ones, in order to respond appropriately and efficiently to emergencies at sea.
