Flooding
Flooding is the process of water entering a ship through any opening, such as a hole or a crack, and filling up the compartments. Flooding can be caused by various reasons such as collision, grounding, or structural failure. It is a serious threat to the stability and safety of the ship, and can lead to capsizing or sinking. The crew must take immediate action to control the flooding by using pumps, closing watertight doors, and shifting weight to reduce the list. The ship's stability and watertight integrity must be regularly checked to prevent flooding.
