Gas-free Certificate

A Gas-free Certificate is a document issued by a competent authority or a licensed surveyor after a thorough inspection of a vessel's cargo tanks, void spaces, and other compartments to ensure that they are free from any flammable or toxic gases. This certificate is required before hot work (such as welding, grinding, or cutting) can be carried out on board a vessel. The inspection process involves taking gas measurements and ensuring that the concentration of flammable or toxic gases is below the permissible limits. The Gas-free Certificate is an important safety measure that helps prevent explosions, fires, and other accidents that can occur due to the presence of flammable or toxic gases on board a vessel.
