Greywater

Greywater is the wastewater generated from domestic activities such as washing dishes, laundry, and bathing. It is different from blackwater, which is the wastewater generated from toilets and kitchen sinks. Greywater can be reused for non-potable purposes such as irrigation, flushing toilets, and cleaning. However, it requires treatment to remove impurities and pathogens before reuse. In the maritime context, greywater management is crucial to prevent pollution and maintain the cleanliness of the water bodies. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set guidelines for the discharge of greywater from ships to prevent the spread of harmful substances and pathogens in the marine environment.
