Gunwale Bar

A gunwale bar is a horizontal bar or rail that runs along the upper edge of a boat's gunwale. It is typically made of wood, metal, or plastic and serves as a handhold for passengers and crew. The gunwale bar also provides additional structural support to the boat's hull, helping to distribute the weight of the boat and its occupants more evenly. In rough seas, the gunwale bar can help prevent passengers from falling overboard and provide a secure grip for those working on deck. It is an important safety feature on any vessel and is often required by maritime regulations.
