Hawsehole
A hawsehole is a hole in the bow of a ship through which the anchor chain passes. It is usually lined with a metal pipe called a hawsepipe to protect the hull from damage. The hawsehole is an important part of the anchor system, as it allows the anchor chain to be deployed and retrieved.
