Head Ledges

Head Ledges are underwater rock formations located at the entrance of a harbor or a channel. These ledges are a significant hazard to navigation, as they can cause damage to vessels and even lead to shipwrecks. Head Ledges are often marked by navigational aids such as buoys or beacons to warn mariners of their presence. In some cases, dredging or blasting may be necessary to remove or modify the ledges to ensure safe passage for vessels. It is important for mariners to be aware of the location and characteristics of Head Ledges in order to navigate safely in and out of harbors and channels.
