Dredging

Dredging is the process of removing sediment and debris from the bottom of water bodies, such as rivers, lakes, and harbors, to maintain or increase the depth of the waterway. This is typically done using a specialized vessel called a dredger, which scoops up the sediment and debris and deposits it into a barge or onto land for disposal. Dredging is important for maintaining navigable waterways, preventing flooding, and creating new land for development. However, it can also have negative environmental impacts, such as disrupting habitats and releasing pollutants into the water.
