Heave In

Heave In is a nautical term used to describe the process of pulling in a line or cable, typically with a winch or capstan, to bring a vessel closer to a dock or another vessel. This process is also used to retrieve anchors or other equipment from the water. Heave In requires coordination between the crew members operating the winch or capstan and those on deck handling the line. It is important to maintain tension on the line to prevent it from slipping or becoming tangled. In rough seas, Heave In can be a challenging and dangerous task, requiring skilled seamanship and careful attention to safety procedures.
