Hopper Barge

A hopper barge is a type of non-self-propelled vessel that is used to transport dry bulk cargo, such as coal, grain, or aggregates. It is characterized by its large open hold, or hopper, which is used to store and transport the cargo. The hopper is typically loaded through hatches on the deck of the barge, and the cargo is unloaded through the bottom of the hopper using doors or gates that can be opened and closed. Hopper barges are commonly used in dredging operations, where they are used to transport dredged material from the dredging site to a disposal site. They are also used in construction projects, where they can be used to transport materials such as sand, gravel, or concrete.
