Hydrographic Surveys

Hydrographic surveys are the process of measuring and mapping the physical features of the navigable portion of the Earth's surface and adjoining coastal areas. These surveys are conducted to provide accurate and up-to-date information about the depth, shape, and features of the seafloor, which is essential for safe navigation, maritime boundary delimitation, and marine resource management. Hydrographic surveys are typically conducted using specialized equipment such as sonar, multibeam echo sounders, and side-scan sonar, and can be carried out from ships, boats, or autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The data collected during hydrographic surveys is used to create nautical charts, which are critical for safe navigation at sea.
