IACS


The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) is a non-governmental organization that represents major classification societies worldwide. These societies establish and apply technical standards for the construction and operation of marine vessels and offshore structures. IACS works closely with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to ensure that vessels are designed, constructed, and maintained in accordance with international safety and environmental standards. IACS also provides technical support and advice to shipowners, shipbuilders, and other stakeholders in the maritime industry.
