Isolation

Isolation in maritime context refers to the act of separating a vessel or a group of vessels from the rest of the fleet or from the shore. This can be done for various reasons such as quarantine, security, or maintenance purposes. Isolation can be achieved by anchoring the vessel(s) in a designated area away from other vessels or by creating a physical barrier around the vessel(s) using booms or other floating devices. During isolation, the isolated vessel(s) may be prohibited from communicating with the outside world or from receiving any supplies or personnel from shore. Isolation is an important measure to prevent the spread of diseases, to protect sensitive information, or to ensure the safety of the vessel(s) and crew.
