Maintenance Dredging

Maintenance dredging is the process of removing accumulated sediment, debris, and other materials from the bottom of waterways, ports, and harbors to maintain safe and navigable depths for vessels. This type of dredging is typically performed on a regular basis to prevent the buildup of sediment that can impede navigation, cause safety hazards, and damage vessels. Maintenance dredging can also be used to restore the original depth of a waterway that has become shallower due to natural processes or human activities. The dredged material is usually transported to a designated disposal site or used for beneficial purposes such as beach nourishment or wetland restoration.
