Maritime Zones

Maritime Zones refer to the different areas of the ocean that are recognized by international law and are subject to different levels of jurisdiction and control by coastal states. The five main maritime zones are the internal waters, territorial sea, contiguous zone, exclusive economic zone (EEZ), and the high seas. Each zone has its own set of rules and regulations governing activities such as navigation, fishing, and resource exploration and exploitation. The EEZ, in particular, is an important zone as it extends 200 nautical miles from a coastal state's baseline and grants that state exclusive rights to explore and exploit natural resources within that zone. The concept of maritime zones is crucial in maintaining order and stability in the world's oceans.
