Stringer

In maritime context, a stringer is a longitudinal structural member used to support the deck and reinforce the hull of a ship or boat. Stringers run parallel to the keel and are usually made of wood, steel, or aluminum. They are attached to the frames or ribs of the vessel and provide additional strength and stiffness to the hull. Stringers can be found in various locations on a ship, including the bottom, sides, and deck. They are essential components of the ship's structure and help distribute the loads and stresses caused by waves and other external forces.
