Navigation Instruments

Navigation instruments are devices used by sailors to determine their position, course, and speed while at sea. These instruments include but are not limited to compasses, sextants, charts, GPS, radar, and depth sounders. Compasses are used to determine direction, while sextants are used to measure the angle between the horizon and celestial bodies to determine latitude and longitude. Charts provide a visual representation of the sea and its features, while GPS and radar use satellite and radio signals to determine position and detect other vessels. Depth sounders use sonar to measure the depth of the water beneath the vessel. Navigation instruments are essential for safe and efficient navigation at sea.
