NOx Emissions

NOx emissions refer to the release of nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere as a result of combustion processes. In the maritime context, NOx emissions are primarily produced by the burning of fossil fuels in ship engines. These emissions contribute to air pollution and can have negative impacts on human health and the environment. In response to this issue, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has established regulations to limit NOx emissions from ships, including the Tier III standards which require a significant reduction in emissions compared to previous regulations.
