Otter Board
An otter board is a flat, rectangular device made of wood or metal that is attached to the sides of a fishing trawl net. It is designed to keep the trawl net open horizontally and to maintain its shape underwater while fishing. Otter boards are also known as doors, and they are typically used in pairs, one on each side of the net. The boards are connected to the trawl net by a set of ropes or chains, and they are dragged along the seabed by the fishing vessel. Otter boards are essential for efficient fishing operations, as they help to reduce drag and increase the catch rate.
