Panama Canal
The Panama Canal is a man-made waterway that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It is approximately 50 miles long and is located in the Central American country of Panama. The canal was constructed to reduce the time for ships to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, eliminating the need for ships to navigate the treacherous Cape Horn route around the southernmost tip of South America.
