Electronic Charts

Electronic Charts are digital representations of navigational charts used by mariners to navigate at sea. They are created by compiling data from various sources such as hydrographic surveys, satellite imagery, and aerial photography. Electronic charts provide real-time information to the navigator and can be updated easily. They are displayed on Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) which are computer-based navigation systems that integrate electronic charts with other navigational sensors and equipment. Electronic charts have become an essential tool for safe navigation and are widely used on modern ships.
