Pilot Rudder

A pilot rudder is a secondary rudder system installed on a ship to improve its maneuverability and control during low speed operations such as docking, berthing, and navigating through narrow channels. It is usually located at the stern of the ship and can be controlled independently of the main rudder. The pilot rudder is smaller in size compared to the main rudder and is designed to provide greater turning ability at low speeds. It is operated by a separate steering mechanism and can be used in conjunction with the main rudder to provide better control over the ship's movement. The use of a pilot rudder reduces the risk of collision and damage to the ship and its surroundings during low speed operations.
