Polar Coordinate

In maritime navigation, a polar coordinate is a system used to determine a vessel's position relative to a fixed point, such as the North Pole. It is based on the use of latitude and longitude coordinates, but instead of measuring distance in a straight line, it measures distance and direction from the fixed point. This system is particularly useful in the polar regions where traditional navigation methods may be less accurate due to the convergence of the meridians. Polar coordinates are often used in conjunction with radar and other electronic navigation aids to provide accurate positioning information.
