PRATIQUE

Pratique is a legal document that permits a ship to enter a port and engage in trade or other activities. It is issued by the port authorities after the ship has been inspected and found to be free from contagious diseases. The term 'pratique' comes from the French word 'pratiquer', which means 'to practice'. The practice of issuing pratique dates back to the medieval times when ships were required to anchor offshore for a certain period of time before being allowed to enter the port. Pratique is an important document for ships as it allows them to carry out their commercial activities in a port without any hindrance.
