Scupper Lip

A scupper is a drainage hole on a ship's deck that allows water to flow overboard. The scupper lip is the raised edge or rim around the scupper that helps to prevent water from flowing back onto the deck. It is important for scupper lips to be properly designed and maintained to prevent water from accumulating on the deck, which can lead to instability and safety hazards. Scupper lips are typically made of metal or rubber and can be found on all types of ships, from small pleasure boats to large commercial vessels.
