Spark Arrestor

A spark arrestor is a device installed in the exhaust system of an engine to prevent sparks and other hot materials from escaping into the atmosphere and potentially causing fires. In the maritime context, spark arrestors are commonly used in boats and ships to prevent fires from starting due to sparks emitted by the engine. They are particularly important in vessels that operate in areas with high fire risk, such as those with flammable cargo or in dry and hot climates. Spark arrestors work by trapping the sparks and hot particles in a mesh or screen, which allows the exhaust gases to pass through while preventing the escape of potentially dangerous materials.
