Stack

In maritime context, a stack refers to a chimney or a vertical pipe on a ship that is used to expel exhaust gases from the engine room. The stack is designed to prevent the exhaust gases from entering the ship's interior spaces and to release them at a safe distance from the ship. The height and diameter of the stack are determined by the size and power of the ship's engines, as well as the applicable regulations. The stack may also be equipped with a spark arrester to prevent fires. The stack is an important component of the ship's ventilation system and plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the crew.
