Tidal Currents

Tidal currents are the horizontal flow of water that occurs as a result of the rise and fall of tides. These currents are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun on the Earth's oceans. Tidal currents can be classified as flood currents, which occur during the rising tide, and ebb currents, which occur during the falling tide. The strength and direction of tidal currents vary depending on the location, depth, and shape of the coastline, as well as the phase of the moon. Tidal currents can have a significant impact on navigation, as they can affect the speed and direction of a vessel. They can also be used to generate renewable energy through the use of tidal turbines.
