Turnbuckles

Turnbuckles are devices used to adjust the tension or length of ropes, cables, and chains. In the maritime context, turnbuckles are commonly used to tighten and secure rigging on sailboats and other vessels. They consist of two threaded eye bolts, one screwed into each end of a metal frame, with a central threaded barrel that can be rotated to adjust the tension. Turnbuckles are essential for maintaining the integrity and safety of a vessel's rigging, as they allow for precise adjustments to be made to the tension of the rigging in response to changing wind and sea conditions.
