Two Blocks
Two Blocks is a term used in maritime industry to describe a situation where the ship's hoisting ropes are pulled so tightly that the blocks (pulleys) at the top of the mast touch each other. This can happen when the load being lifted is too heavy or when the hoisting ropes are not properly maintained. Two Blocks can cause damage to the hoisting ropes, blocks, and the mast itself. It can also lead to accidents if the load being lifted suddenly drops. Therefore, it is important for the crew to be aware of the weight of the load and to regularly inspect and maintain the hoisting ropes and blocks to prevent Two Blocks from occurring.
