Anchor Lights

Anchor lights are the lights that are used to indicate the presence and position of a vessel that is at anchor. These lights are required to be displayed by vessels that are anchored in or near a narrow channel, fairway, or anchorage. The purpose of anchor lights is to make the anchored vessel visible to other vessels and to avoid collisions during the night. The anchor light should be placed where it can be seen all around the horizon and should be of sufficient intensity to be visible at a distance of at least one nautical mile. The color of the anchor light should be white and it should be exhibited from sunset to sunrise.
