Chain Stopper

A chain stopper is a device used to secure the anchor chain when the vessel is at anchor. It is typically made of steel and consists of a pair of jaws that clamp onto the chain, preventing it from slipping through the hawsepipe. The chain stopper is attached to the hull of the vessel and is designed to take the strain off the windlass, which is used to raise and lower the anchor. It is an important safety feature that ensures the anchor remains securely in place, even in rough weather conditions.
