EEDI

The Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) is a measurement of a ship's energy efficiency and carbon emissions. It is a mandatory requirement for new ships under the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) MARPOL Annex VI regulations. The EEDI is calculated based on a ship's design and takes into account factors such as its size, speed, and engine power. The lower the EEDI value, the more energy efficient the ship is considered to be. The purpose of the EEDI is to encourage the development and use of more energy-efficient ships, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable shipping practices.
