Emissions Control Technologies

Emissions Control Technologies refer to the various methods and systems used to reduce or eliminate harmful pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions from ships. These technologies include exhaust gas cleaning systems (scrubbers), selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems, and alternative fuels such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) and hydrogen. Emissions Control Technologies are essential for ensuring compliance with international and national regulations, such as the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) MARPOL Convention, which sets limits on the emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) from ships. These technologies also play a crucial role in mitigating the environmental impact of shipping on air quality and climate change.
