Expeditionary Transfer Dock

An Expeditionary Transfer Dock (ESD) is a type of amphibious assault ship that serves as a floating base for amphibious operations. It is designed to support the rapid transfer of personnel and equipment from sea to shore. The ESD is equipped with a large flight deck, a well deck for launching and recovering landing craft, and a variety of mission-specific spaces for command and control, logistics, and medical support. The ESD is a key component of the U.S. Navy's amphibious fleet and is used to support a wide range of operations, including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and combat operations.
