Flotsam

In maritime context, flotsam refers to the floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo that has been lost at sea and is found adrift on the water. This can include anything from broken pieces of wood to entire containers. Flotsam can be dangerous to other vessels as it can cause collisions or damage to propellers and other equipment. It is important for ships to report any flotsam they encounter to the appropriate authorities to ensure the safety of other vessels and to aid in the recovery of lost cargo.
