Gas Free Engineer

A Gas Free Engineer is a professional who is responsible for ensuring that a vessel's tanks, compartments, and pipelines are free of any flammable or toxic gases before any hot work or entry is carried out. They are responsible for conducting gas tests, monitoring the atmosphere, and issuing gas-free certificates. Gas Free Engineers must have a thorough understanding of the properties of different gases, the equipment used for gas testing, and the safety procedures involved in gas freeing operations. They work closely with other members of the ship's crew, including the Chief Engineer, to ensure that all gas freeing operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
