MMSI

Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) is a unique nine-digit number assigned to a ship radio station by national authorities and used for identifying and locating ships, as well as for exchanging digital data such as position reports, distress alerts, and other safety-related information. MMSI is an essential component of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) and is used in various communication systems, including VHF, MF/HF, and satellite communication. MMSI numbers are also used for vessel traffic services (VTS), automatic identification systems (AIS), and other maritime applications.
