Obstruction
In maritime context, obstruction refers to any object or structure that poses a danger or impediment to the safe navigation of a vessel. This can include natural obstructions such as rocks, reefs, and sandbars, as well as man-made obstructions such as piers, buoys, and other vessels. Obstructions can be particularly hazardous in low visibility conditions or in narrow channels where there is limited room for maneuvering. It is the responsibility of the vessel's operator to maintain a proper lookout and take appropriate action to avoid collisions with obstructions. In some cases, obstructions may be marked with navigational aids such as buoys or beacons to help vessels navigate safely.
