Pods

In maritime context, pods refer to a propulsion system that consists of an electric motor and a propeller mounted on a steerable pod. The pod is attached to the outside of the ship's hull, and can rotate 360 degrees, providing greater maneuverability and efficiency. Pods can be used as the primary propulsion system or as an auxiliary system to supplement the ship's main engines. They are commonly used in cruise ships, ferries, and other large vessels that require precise maneuvering in tight spaces. Pods offer several advantages over traditional shaft-driven propulsion systems, including reduced noise and vibration, improved fuel efficiency, and easier maintenance.
